Cristiano qualifies for Fifa Award - October 12, 2006 Cristiano Ronaldo, along with teammate Wayne Rooney, has qualified as the one of the 30 soccer players that are eligible to be awarded Fifa World Player of the Year. The award will be given to the top player on December 18th, after all head coaches have cast their votes. 2005 Fifa World Player of the Year went to Ronaldinho Gaucho. This year, there are talks that Fabio Cannavaro or Thierry Henry are likely candidates to receive the award. Only a matter of time before we find out for ourselves.
